Firm Identification

Governance & Ownership

The Executive Committee (Exco) is the ultimate approving body for the report and holds ultimate responsibility and accountability for the SoQM, with operational duties allocated to individual partners. Majority shareholders are Marius Maritz and Walter Mohlaka; minority shareholders include Stevie Minnaar, Jeandré du Toit, George Davias, Raymond Baard and Melinda Bath.

System of Quality Management (SoQM)

The firm maintains a risk-based SoQM designed and operated in line with ISQM 1, including governance & leadership, ethical requirements, acceptance/continuance, resources, engagement performance, information & communication, and monitoring & remediation. The Exco evaluates the system at least annually, updates quality objectives, and documents outcomes in the firm’s ISQM 1 tool.

Independence & Ethics

  • Annual independence confirmations: completed by 96.30% of audit & assurance personnel as at the declaration cut-off.
  • Breaches: none identified during the period.
  • Partner rotation: maximum 5-year tenure with a two-year cooling-off (stricter where required).

Monitoring, Inspections & Remediation

  • Internal inspections: 6 audit files sampled (3 PIE / 3 non-PIE); post-remediation deficiency rate of 15%.
  • IRBA 2024 cycle: both engagement files required “Significant Improvement”; firm-level SoQM graded “Some Improvement Required”.
  • Remediation: all IRBA action plans implemented and closed by 30 April 2025; effectiveness verified internally.
